Woman dumped LIVE newborn son in garbage

A 28-year-old woman in Staten Island is facing a murder charge after police say she allegedly gave birth and dumped her newborn — who was reportedly still alive — in a garbage bag. The baby was found outside her condominium building, NBC New York reports. NBC claims the baby was found around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, but may have been dumped earlier. Nausheen Rahman was then taken in for concealment of a human corpse, but those charges were later upgraded to second-degree murder.

The reason for the upgrade, according to authorities, was because the baby was reportedly alive before being dumped in the garbage bag.  According to reports, Rahman gave birth on Friday and went to a local hospital bleeding.

When she didn’t show up with the newborn, an investigation launched. The baby was discovered at her Richmond Hill Road residence. ABC 7 showed video of Rahman, in handcuffs, walking out with her head down and Adidas sweatshirt on. Her neighbors were shocked. She had reportedly lived at the HoneyBee Condominiums with her family for several years, and her motive is not clear.
