US based Nigerian couple accused of enslaving Nigerian woman for 2 years plead not guilty

Chudy, 56, and Sandra Nsobundu, 50, who were accused of forcing a Nigerian woman to care for their five children and house without pay for two years recently pleaded not guilty in court.

The pair appeared before a Harris County judge Thursday, KPRC-TV reports. A federal grand jury slapped them with a five-count indictment earlier this month. They are charged with forced labor, withholding documents, conspiracy to harbor an illegal immigrant and visa fraud, The Associated Press reports.

The Nsobundus, naturalized U.S. citizens from Nigeria, are also accused of physically and verbally abusing their 38-year-old nanny and made her work 20 hours a day. The nanny  rescued in October after a tip to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center.
