Teenager kills toddler to make room for his unborn child

A teenager has admitted drowning his girlfriend's three-year-old nephew to make room for their unborn child at their home, police said.

Texas police said Bobby Woods Jr, 17, enticed little Mason Cuttler to the edge of a pond at the house where three families lived together.

Knowing he couldn't swim, Woods pushed Mason into the water and turned his back as the toddler screamed for help, the Angelina County Sheriff's Office said.

Woods later helped search for Mason whose body was found in the pond a day later.

Woods was arrested on Friday on a charge of capital murder of a person under age 6.

An online obituary for Mason described him as a "happy child" who "loved Mickey Mouse and Thomas the Train".

The obituary reads: "He enjoyed playing on the family tractor, helping mow on the lawn mower, and riding the 4-wheeler. -

Mason's parents Kevin Cuttler and Brandi Wonzer released a statement thanking local authorities and volunteers for assisting them.

They said: "We especially thank the Angelina County Sheriff's Office for their pursuit of justice for mason. At this time, we ask for your prayers for our family.

"We need time to grieve and try to heal.

"We are remembering our kind-hearted angel and those memories with support from our loved ones will get us through this."
