Nigerian Army appoints commander to aid in the fight against Boko Haram



The Nigerian Army has announced the appointment of Major General Yusha’u Mahmood Abubakar as the leader of “Operation Lafiya Dole,” an offensive aimed at breaking Islamist radical group Boko Haram. General Abubakar has previous experience serving as Commander of Nigerian Army Armored Corps. His appointment takes immediate effect.

In the statement released by the Army stated that General Abubakar was appointed to head the military offensive in order to “meet up with the established time line of bringing to a successful conclusion the fight against terrorism and insurgency.”
